I have been meaning to post an update since Edyn saw the doctor. He said that the surgery was a success. I thought he was nuts! Turns out Edyn has Pseudostrabismus. Basically her eyes are aligned closer in. He said she will outgrow the look of having crossed eyes. Now I see what he means. Before, it just looked like one eye was still pulling in big time. I am just so relieved that she doesn't need another surgery! She will still wear her glasses for the far sightedness and we are currently shopping for some new frames. Will post pics when we find some! Thanks and God Bless!

s we know 'bout eye patched therapy, the doctor suggest Nazneen to through this therapy to help her eyes muscles going normal. Because our doctor still give us hope that baby's muscles still have a hope to turn into normal without surgery. After we through this last 6-7months for this therapy, doctor still ask us to continuing this therapy for 3 months more. So.. for the baby which is had got a strabismus surgery, eye patched therapy might be help the muscles to turn into normal. Please ask your doctor for this thing. I have a nephew, now he is 'bout 8 years old. When he was baby, his eyes also have this things matter. He goes to pediatric, and his doctor just asked his parents to done a massage therapy on behind his both ears area. And without surgery, he had passed from strabismus. I beleive that it might be depend on unique strabismus case. But at least, we can ask the doctor to do something beside surgery.

We also tried patching with my daughter, and glasses before surgery. Not only did it not help, but the patched eye (which was fine to begin with) got significantly worse. Indeed, every case is unique. The reason we opted for surgery at 7 months, was to avoid amblyopia, which typically starts to develop somewhere between the ages of 8-14 months (when the eyes develop binocular vision). When this happens, the brain will start to shut off the bad eye. To me, it felt like a race against time.

Strabismus surgery is surgery on the extraocular muscles to correct the misalignment of the eyes. With approximately 1.2 million procedures each year, extraocular muscle surgery is the third most common eye surgery in the United States.[1]
