Babies With Glasses - The site for families of babies, infants and kids with glasses

Hello! I am new here so I apologize if this has already been discussed at length (which I'm sure it has).

My 12 mth old boy needs glasses to fix his left eye (+2). I ordered a pair from Solo Bambini and they are cute but it comes with a white piece of yarn basically that goes behind his head. It doesn't seem very sturdy or the most comfortable solution....but of course the owner assured me it was. I'd rather hear from moms with experience!

The ones that I find in the stores are mostly behind the ears and metal...

What has worked best for you? Behind the head or behind the ears? Why did that work best?

My son started in glasses at 5 months for a very farsighted RX- +9 and +7.50. He just got his 6th pair of glasses, and he is 24 months. I deffinatelly reccomend the glasses with cables that curve around the entire back of your baby's ears. They are very soft, and still comfortable, they help keep the glasses in place w/o having to have a band all around the head.They are very sturdy. Also, a tip to help baby learn to keep the glasses on is to put them on when he is sleeping that way his body will adjust to the feel, and he wont know that they are there right away. Good luck=)

Hello...

I am new as well, having just joined because I couldn't find much information online about babies and glasses. My 8mth old has been prescribed glasses and must have an operation this year for his eyesight. I don't know if this helps but in looking for glasses this week I found very few things that fit him until I came upon Baby Banz. The company makes sunglasses for babies but you can buy clear ones and replace the lens with prescriptions. I am yet to see how well he takes to them! (Am hedging my bets and have also bought a pair of little glasses with wrap around ear bits. But Baby Banz may be a thought if you can't find glasses small enough.
