Hi sad Mommy,
I felt the exact same way last week. I feel for you. A couple of weeks ago i got my daughter Janine's eyes checked by a health clinic optometrist because of my suspision of janine having a turned eye (coveregent and both eyes). It was then confirmed by the optometrist that she does have a turned eye and was then referred to a pediatric eye doctor. I went to the doctr last week and was so overwhelmed by all the information given to me at the appointment that i cried. Like you it was all too new to me. I was told that the only treatment for now is glasses. i told the doctor is it normal for my 11 month old to wear glasses, she is so young. Yes apparently 1 in every 20 children have strabismus (correct term for turned eye). But alot miss it when their children are young and then is a bit harder to treat once they are older.
Janine is a twin. Her and her brother were born at 36 weeks just borderline premmy. The first question my doctor asked was whether she was premmy. But the biggest case is inheritance. Could be 1st or 2nd generation. So it is obvious in my situation that it is carried on from my mothers side, because a couple of my cousins have eye problems.
Looking at the bright side (hard to but life goes on and don't want Janine to feel that their is something wrong with her and that she is any different to her brother and older sister), Janine does not have vision problems, the glasses will hopefully help her relax the muscles in her eyes then straighten them up.
So if it means glasses, well bring them on.
Haven't recieved the glasses yet, just a little worried on how she will keep them on.
It feels good to have let it all off my chest.
It is great to have stumbled across this site just a few minutes ago.
Thankyou
