Jenna,

Hi and welcome! My name is Cheryl and my daughter, Reagan, has had glasses since she was 3 months old. She is also very far sighted and has dealt with having her eyes cross (it took three surgeries but we finally got her eyes straight ~ woohoo!). From my understanding, +7.00 is a fairly strong prescription but what really matters is how it effects your daughters vision. My daughter started out at +13.5 (insanely strong, thick glasses) and she has developed just fine and seems to have good corrected vision (she is almost 3 now). She still wears a +12.5 lens...she goes for an exam under anesthesia on Thursday and I am hoping for a new, LOWER, prescription...fingers crossed! Still, what really matters is that she is wearing the right prescription, no matter the strength. With time, this all just becomes just another part of your child and your life...trust me!

anyone with ROP? 2009/06/21 13:22 Karma: 0
Hello. My child had ROP and is getting glasses next week. I am a bit apprehensive of the whole thing, even though I know he'll see better. Just struggling with dealing with the emotions of putting my 2 year old in glasses and hoping it's the right thing. I am concerned that correcting his myopia could contribute to more rapid progression of the myopia, but his doctor says there's no evidence to support that. anyone out there with teh same struggles?
