Can vision changes/glasses cause sleeping problems? 2010/07/09 00:52 Karma: 0
Our 9 mos old has had glasses for about 2 full weeks now and has been really struggling at night with waking up. He has a lot of other things going on developmentally (pulling up, wants to walk, possibly teething, etc) but it seems strange that the sleep problems really got bad once he got the glasses.

He keeps them on and seems like he can pick out details in books better just from his trying to touch things in books he never did before so I'm guessing the prescription is at least helping and not totally wrong.

Just curious if anyone else has experienced something like this.

We never experienced that, but we did notice that times when Zoe wasn't wearing her glasses (because they were in for repair), she was much more tired.

I wonder if suddenly seeing things better is kind of like other developmental milestones in that it can throw off sleep schedules.

I hope he gets back to a good sleep routine quickly.

You're not keeping them on while he sleeps are you? I bet you aren't, but just thought I'd ask. I'd say, if anything, my daughter slept better once she got her glasses. Her world was opened up and she participated in so many more activities that tired her out. It probably is the other milestones in addition to the new glasses that are keeping him up.

Good luck and I hope things get better!

thanks for the replies. we take his glasses off when he sleeps and I tend to agree that it is the other milestones/teething that is bothering him. Knock on wood he finally made it through the night last night!
