Genuine Baby with Glasses T-shirts and more available

Posted by jrfuda in kids with glasseskids gearkidsinfantsbabies with glassesbabies

genuine-baby-with-glasses-small-logo.jpgAfter discovering Cafe Press and the 3 Little Monkeys shop, I wanted to create some custom T-Shirts with more designs and bolder statements for infants and children with glasses. Being none too shabby with Photoshop, I set to work and developed several designs and started uploading them to Cafe Press. You can now visit the Babies with Glasses store at Cafe Press and buy T-shirts for your own babies and kids with glasses! The "Shop" link on the tabbed menu will take you there as well.

Cool Babies Wear Glasses T-Shirts, Onesies and Bibs

Posted by jrfuda in kids gearinfantschildrenbabies with glassesbabies

Hi everyone, while doing my routine search of Babies with Glasses-related stuff, I came accross this cool T-Shirt at Café Press , that's also available as a bib or onesie.

cool babies wear glasses tshirt.jpg cool babies wear glasses onesie.jpg cool babies wear glasses bib.jpg

The T-Shirt is available in white, pink, blue or tan. The onesie is available in white, pink or blue; and the bib is available in white only. There are a lot of other neat original T-shirts and such at the site as well

3 Little Monkeys , a shop at Cafe Press, has a whole line of T-shirts for infants and children that wear glasses or eye patches. You should give them a visit.

Linked Technorati to my blog

Posted by jrfuda in web authoringbabies with glasses

I just created a technorati link back to my blog. As part of the process to confirm that this is my blog, I had to create a post with a link to my Technorati Profile. If you would like to link technorati to your blog on this site use:

http://babieswithglasses.org/component/option,com_myblog/blogger,username
as your link, replacing "username" with your username.

Added new RSS Feeds

Posted by jrfuda in web authoring

Hi everyone,

We recently added some new RSS feeds to the site. In case you don't know what RSS is, it stands for "Really Simple Syndication." Here's the Wikipedia Definition:

RSS is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines or podcasts. An RSS document, which is called a "feed," "web feed," or "channel," contains either a summary of content from an associated web site or the full text. RSS makes it possible for people to keep up with their favorite web sites in an automated manner that's easier than checking them manually.

I've added RSS links for each of the major news and article categories on the site. By clicking these links located both here, and in their representitive parts of the site, you can subscribe to feeds from the site. For example, if you want to always know what the latest blog entries are, you can subscribe to the RSS feed of "Latest Blog Entries." Clicking the link will take you to the RSS page for that category, where, using your browser, you can subscribe to the feed. Once subscribed, you will always have access to the latest blog posts. Different browsers and news readers present RSS feeds in different ways. Some scroll them along the bottom of your browser and others merely store them for when you want to access them later.

Here are the links to the RSS feeds we currently have up:

Installed a new site template

Posted by jrfuda in web authoringsite suggestions

I hope everyone's enjoying the site's new look. I installed a new template today that provides a little more space for content and more customization options. Among these options are the ability to use custom typography, which does not seem to be working in all content right now. Here are some examples, if it's working they should appear different than the rest of the text:

This is alert text. It should appear as an amber box with an exclamation graphic with indented text

This is info text. It should appear as an light blue box with a letter I graphic with indented text

This is warning text. It should appear as an light red box with an warning triangle graphic with indented text

This is dark alert text. It should appear as a red box with an exclamation graphic with indented text

This is dark info text. It should appear as an blue box with a letter I graphic with indented text

This is dark warning text. It should appear as a yellow box with an warning triangle graphic with indented text

This should again appear as normal text

How to add photos to your profile gallery

Posted by jrfuda in Untagged

Adding a photo is very easy, though not explained anywhere on the site, so here's little tutorial.

On the menu located on the left side of the screen, is an entry called "your profile," click this entry and you'll be brought to your profile's screen. On this screen should be a box with several tabs. One of those boxes should be labeled "CB Profile Gallery." Click this tab. Next, click the link "Submit New Gallery Entry." A box will appear below the link letting you enter a title, description and browse for a file to upload. Once you've done all that, click "Submit Gallery Entry" (button below "Image File") and you're done. Now, anyone who views your profile can view your gallery photos as well.

To integrate the photo into an article or blog entry takes more work and requires some familiarity with html code. I'm working on updating the blogging component to make it easier to directly insert images, right from your hard drive, like you would in MS Word or another program, but that will take me some time.

In the meantime, you can post images to you profile gallery.

Add Another Baby With Glasses

Posted by jrfuda in my blogkids with glassesbabies with glasses

It's official, our second son - Caleb - got his first pair of glasses last week. He was originally examined and the determination was made at three months that he would need glasses, however, they wanted to wait until he was 6 months old before writing his a prescription to ensure that the initial assessment wasn't too strong

Now JC and Caleb both have glasses. JC was very excited to see his little brother wearing glasses too. Here's one of the first pictures of them together sharing a cookie.

Scooting Along

Posted by jrfuda in milestoneskidsinfantsdevelopmentaldevelopmentchildrenbabies

JC started scooting (crawling using his arms only) on Sunday. Now we REALLY have to keep our eye on him!

He's getting better at sitting up by himself too. He has a little toy piano he like to play with, and we can sit him in front of it and he'll play with it while maintaining his balance for several minutes at a time.

His physical therapist is very impressed with his progress and soon his sessions may be reduced to quarterly, or be eliminated all together.

We're very proud of our boy overcoming the obstacles he has!

JC Update

Posted by jrfuda in my blogkidschildrenbabies with glassesbabies

JC recovered well from two surgeries he had last Thursday. JC had an adenoidectomy and ear tubes inserted in his eardrums. He was a little groggy the day of the survery, but the next day he was his happy little self again!

Over the weekend he even got to splash around in his pool (with his ears protected of course). It's hard to beleive he'll be 9-months old in a few days.
