Our daughter was diagnosed as severely farsighted (+7.5) last week, she got her 
glasses today. We were convinced that she wouldn't wear them, but when they finally were able to wrestle them on her, she paused for a few minutes and looked around everywhere, and then kept them on for the whole ride home from the optical shop, until she went to bed a 7:00. We don't know what tomorrow will bring, but we will take it as it comes. We are so new to this, it has been such a ride the last week and half. Once I looked through the glasses, my heart just about burst seeing how strong the prescription was. It is tough to find info out there, other than the basic definitions and descriptions, and we really appreciate this site, I hope more people find it and share stories and ideas, it can feel pretty isolating out there when you can't find people or info that can relate to your situation. Thanks for your site and I will post a picture of Lily with her new glasses.

Hi, can anyone help me out here?!! I just found out my 4 month old son, Brandon is a -6.50 nearsighted, (whatever that means) and he is going to have to have glasses, I was so shock and speechless I couldn't believe my son at a very young age needed glasses! I mean I thought their eye sight doesn't fully develope til they are 6 months old. I am wondering if I need a second Opinion, but I did take him to an eye institute which I was referral by his doctor. If any one can give me some information I really appreciate it and I am glad I found this website! Thanks, liz

Hi! Just found this website! Our 8 month old twin boys need glasses! I thought we were just checking the optic nerve for damage. The boys were born a little over 8 weeks early. I had no idea their vision was being checked. I mean, I'm glad they did and all, but we were completely blown away by the whole thing! Anyhow, now come the questions. First of all, what type of frames does anyone reccomend - then, how do you keep them on?! Even if they'll leave they're own glasses on, I'm not sure one brother is going to leave his other brother's on! We'll be thankfull for any advice!

It's official, our second son - Caleb - got his first pair of glasses last week. He was originally examined and the determination was made at three months that he would need glasses, however, they wanted to wait until he was 6 months old before writing his a prescription to ensure that the initial assessment wasn't too strong
Now JC and Caleb both have glasses. JC was very excited to see his little brother wearing glasses too. Here's one of the first pictures of them together sharing a cookie.

My 9 month old daughter just got her glasses today. They are soft Mira-flex glasses with a crochet strap holding them on. She is doing pretty well considering her age and desire to put everything in her mouth! My question is about nursing. Should I try to leave her glasses on her while nursing? It looks as if they get pushed to the side a bit and its probably uncomfortable. Any advice?
